MA Program - Program Requirements
Students must fulfill all requirements for the MA degree as listed in The University of Arizona Graduate Catalog as well as those required by Women's Studies. This includes 36 total units (at least 21 in Women's Studies), an MA project, and an oral exam and presentation of the MA project. Students are also required to attend Women's Studies Colloquia throughout the program.MA Thesis/Project
The master's thesis/project represents a significant piece of intellectual work that synthesizes and reflects the student's two years of study. All projects are created in close consultation with a project director who heads the three-person MA thesis/project committee. Oral examinations, which evaluate the student's understanding of the theoretical and empirical dimensions of feminist scholarship generally and more specifically in relation to the student's MA thesis/project, will occur in the final semester.
Master's Program Requirements
This outline assumes the standard two-year program. Joint programs, such as the JD/MA, will have the same core requirements. Students in such programs, or those who wish to develop a part-time program, will need to work out specifics with the Director of Graduate Studies. Please read the guide carefully and ask the Director of Graduate Studies or your mentor advisor if you need clarification.
