The Department of Women's Studies will no longer admit students applying solely for the MA degree, but will continue to consider applicants for the joint MA/JD program in conjunction with the James E. Rogers College of Law.

Our 2-year MA program enables students to develop their knowledge of feminist theories and movements in a stimulating interdisciplinary environment. Core seminars encourage students to pursue their own areas of interest through analyses that illuminate the inextricable interconnections of gender, race, sexuality, class, and contemporary and historical transnational economic and cultural processes. Mentored by faculty advisors, students shape unique programs of study, selecting from the great variety of courses offered by core and affiliated faculty. Students' understanding of feminist praxis is enriched through internships with numerous local activist organizations such as Derechos Humanos, and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. The program culminates in the second year with a Master's thesis or project in which the student deploys insights gained through their graduate study to produce original work. Financial aid is available in the form of fellowships and teaching and research assistantships. ESL students are encouraged to apply.
