Linda DarlingPh.D., Associate Professor, Department of History
Dr. Darling is an Associate Professor in the History Department. She teaches Middle Eastern history. Her research specialty is the Ottoman Empire; her study of fiscal administration and political legitimacy is entitled Revenue-Raising and Legitimacy: Tax Collection and Finance Administration in the Ottoman Empire, 1560-1660. She teaches on larger issues of state and society in the Middle East; her course on Women in Islamic history examines women's changing political and economic roles and the discourse on those roles within Islamic societies from the rise of Islam to the present day.
