Benjamin H. IrvinPh.D., Assistant Professor, Department of History
Benjamin H. Irvin is a social and cultural historian of early and Revolutionary America, with strong ancillary interests in gender and law. He teaches "Manhood and Masculinity in the United States" and hopes in coming years to develop courses in women's legal history. He is currently revising a manuscript about the Continental Congress and the civic culture - that is, the fast days, funeral processions, and commemorative medals - by which Congress promoted the Revolutionary War effort.
