K. Tsianina Lomawaima
Ph.D., Professor, American Indian Studies Program

Dr. Lomawaima is a Professor of American Indian Studies. Her research interest focuses on 20th century American Indian history and experience, especially educational history and boarding school experience. Her book, They Called it Prairie Light: The Story of Chilocco Indian School won the 1993 North American Indian Prose Award, and the American Educational Association's 1995 Critics' Choice Award. Her courses include AIS' doctoral Theory & Methods course; Dynamics of Indian Societies (MA Core course); History of American Indian Education; Contemporary Issues & Research in American Indian Education; a course on Native technologies and material culture; and a Tier I class, TRAD 101 Many Nations of Native America.
