Caryl Flinn, Ph.D.
Professor of Women's Studies and Media Arts
Caryl Flinn is the author of
The New German Cinema: Music, History and the Matter of Style
(University of California Press), and her biography of Ethel Merman is forthcoming. Her other
books include
Strains of Utopia: Gender,
Nostalgia, and Hollywoood Film Music, and
Music and Cinema (co-edited). Her
main research and teaching interests are feminist film studies, critical theory, cinema,
music/popular culture, feminist theory, and queer studies. In addition to her work in
Women's Studies, Flinn teaches for the Department of Media Arts.
