I was born in a tiny town in Ontario, Canada, but was lucky enough to move to Tucson when I was 8.
After graduating from high school I moved to Boston, where I completed my undergraduate degree at
Boston University, a BA in political science with a minor in art history. Since high school I
have been involved in the reproductive rights movement and at BU I founded a pro-choice student
organization and was also a member of the Board of Directors at Planned Parenthood League of
Massachusetts. Prior to coming back to Tucson, I spent seven months in Panamá, where I volunteered,
practiced Spanish, and was able to travel throughout most of the country. I hope to focus my research
around access to reproductive healthcare, either in Latin America or for Latino immigrants to the US.
I use a bike for transportation, have a one year old nephew, and have traveled to India, Mexico, New
Zealand, Costa Rica, and China.
