Students
Lisa Rubio
Born and raised in sunny Southern California, I moved north
to earn my B.A. in
English and Women's Studies from Washington State University. As a McNair
Scholar I published my research project entitled "The Cultural Catholic Who May
Not be Catholic: Latinas, Education, and Attitudes Toward Religion", and
presented my work at the NACCS conference in early 2005. I began the Master's
in Women's Studies at Ohio State Univ. and have made my way to Arizona to
complete and expand the work I have started. My interests center around
Latina/Chicana feminisms in relation to organized religion and Spirituality,
social movements and Liberation Theology in both the U.S. and Latin America, as
well as the broader intersections of religion- politics- and power.
