Women in Science and Engineering

The Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) program was established at the University ofArizona in 1976 as part of the Women's Studies Department and the Southwest Institute forResearch on Women. WISE isgoverned by a Board of Directors consisting of several UA deans, faculty, and key externalbusiness people who are involved with the science and technology industries.

The WISE Mission Statement

Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WISE) works to motivate female students toenter careers in science, engineering, mathematics and technology and to support them intheir studies.

The WISE Vision Statement

Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WISE) will become a leading center thatencourages girls and women to develop and enhance successful careers in science,mathematics, engineering and technology.
